From Grain to Glass, shaken or stirred to perfection.
Craft distilleries are on the rise in the region, due to increasing interest in spirits made with local ingredients.
A local staple, and considered the trendsetter for newer distilleries, is Dillon’s Small Batch Distillery in Beamsville. Best known for their gins, and unique bitters, Dillon’s hand-crafted spirits are made with produce from within the Twenty Valley, and their popularity grows with every new beverage release.
The revival of the cocktail hour also helped pave the way for more distilleries in Niagara, including Niagara Falls Craft Distillers; a perfect spot for Niagara Falls visitors. They pride themselves in creating high-quality vodka, whisky and gin tied together with local history and legends.
LTD Distillery in Niagara-on-the-Lake is one of the newest in the region, creating small-batch rum, moonshine, and whiskey, all with an emphasis on exploring a variety of products while embracing the uniqueness and characteristics of each batch.
Also in NOTL, Niagara College Teaching Distillery is home to The Artisan Distilling program, with spirits are available in limited quantities and sold exclusively at the school. This is where future Niagara distillers learn the industry! Pop by the Wine and Viticulture centre and taste Niagara College’s School Spirit.
Looking for something classic, yet different? Wayne Gretsky Estates is a distillery, winery and brewery – the only one of its kind in Niagara – which allows for a unique portfolio of products, such as whisky finished in Icewine and Cabernet Sauvignon barrels! If you are there in the winter, lace up your skates and enjoy the DJ spinning tunes while you sip & skate the day or evening away.
